How this site makes money

How recommendations are actually made
This is a research site, and it is worth being precise about what that means, because plenty of affiliate sites are vague about it.
I do not own or test the products reviewed here. There is no test kitchen and no laboratory. What happens instead:
- Manufacturer specifications are read closely, and weighed for which ones actually decide the job in question rather than which ones sound impressive.
- Verified-purchase reviews are read in volume, looking for the specific complaint that repeats across thousands of buyers rather than the star average.
- Prices, ratings and stock are checked directly on the listing, and the date they were checked is stated on the page.
- Independent testing is cited where it exists — named and linked, so you can go and read it yourself.
- Where something could not be established, the page says so instead of filling the gap with confident writing.
A guide built this way can tell you a great deal: which machine a category of buyers keeps regretting, which specification is marketing and which is load-bearing, and when two listings are the same product at different prices. What it cannot tell you is how something feels in the hand. Where that is the deciding factor, the honest answer is to say so.
Correction, August 2026: an earlier version of this page said every recommendation was based on “genuine research, hands-on testing, and honest editorial judgement”. The hands-on testing part was not accurate, and it contradicted this site’s own How We Review page. It has been corrected, and the reviews that made similar claims are being corrected too.
What the commission does not change
Affiliate relationships never influence which products get recommended. I recommend what looks like the best buy for a given reader, and I say when something is not worth buying — including when that means passing on the commission. Specifically:
- No payment is accepted for positive reviews, guaranteed placements, or inclusion in a guide.
- Every product entry carries genuine drawbacks, not softened ones.
- Buying guides are updated as products are discontinued, superseded, or move in price.
- Where a cheaper product is the better choice, it is named as the better choice.
